An InHome Behavior Consultation is recommended when unwanted behavior is occurring primarily in the home or neighborhood.  Behavior problems covered include territorial/stranger aggression, resource guarding, separation distress, inter-pack aggression, aggression towards family members, fear aggression, as well as manners and house training. Consultations are considered “coaching sessions”, designed to help you understand the root causes of your dog’s behavior. People-empowerment techniques are recommended, with a positive, humane approach that works for all members of the family.  Written recommendations will be given, along with reading materials.  Specialty behavior modification classes or private lessons may be recommended as the next step.

INFECTIOUS DISEASES POLICY

Dear Clients:

We have considered the logistics of this very important service to our clients very seriously. People’s homes are their sanctuaries / safe zones. Whether you are healthy, a silent carrier, or sick, you need your home to be a place that you can feel safe in.  We do not want to unknowingly carry the virus from house to house.

If you or a family member is sick, or been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 or the flu, PLEASE RESCHEDULE YOUR CONSULTATION or we can convert your consultation to an online behavior consultation.

In-Home Consultation

Requirements

  • Pre-payment is required. This covers one and a half hours of consultation time.   You will pay for only the time and materials you use, so if you do not use the whole 90 minutes credit may be given toward follow-up visits or recommended classes.  Follow-up visits are not required but are sometimes recommended and very helpful.
  • Printed educational materials, a written report, and books (if appropriate) may be included at cost. Follow up steps will be discussed at initial consultation and are dependent on the nature of the behavior problem. Additional visits are at the same hourly rate listed below.
  • The online behavior profile form should be filled out before signing up for a consultation. This is now a part of the registration application.
  • Pre-payment and your dog’s behavior profile form must be submitted no later than 48 hours before your appointment. Failure to do so will result in your consultation time being rescheduled, but only after payment and behavior profile form has been received.
  • Please fill out the behavior profile form online when you register.  If you are unable to do that, please download and email behavior profile form as a saved word document email it to teamworkshelp@gmail.com  or print out the PDF file, fill it out, scan it, or take a photo with your phone and email it to teamworkshelp@gmail.com or text it to 919-855-0422
  • Video of the problem behavior is very helpful to have, but please do not take any risks with yourself or others making a video.
  • You will receive an email confirmation of your appointment after your register online and we receive payment.  If you do not receive an email confirmation, please call our office at 855-0422 to confirm your appointment.
  • There will be no charge for weather-related cancellations or consultations rescheduled by instructor due to illness.
  • Cancellations made by student less than 24 hours before consultation are subject to a non-refundable cancellation fee.
  • PLEASE NOTE: At Teamworks we value effective, science-based, and humane methodologies. By registering for an InHome Consultation appointment, you agree to adhere to humane training standards for your dog.  If you are currently using an incompatible methodology,  such as remote, button activated electronic shock collar, you must agree to discontinue its use.  If you plan to continue to use your remote shock collar, please do not book an InHome Consultation with us.
  • Please also note:  we do NOT offer temperament “certifications” or “guarantees” on puppies or dogs.  While sound science-based training and behavior modification can greatly improve a dog’s behavior, it is impossible and unethical to guarantee the future behavior of a dog.  Any dog’s behavior is the result of genetics, early socialization and learning, fear period experiences, reinforcement history, home environment, owner behavior, and relationship with the owner.  It is our goal to help you improve your dog’s behavior by assessing the effect of genetics, early socialization/learning, and fear period experiences on your dog’s current behavior. Our services focus on increasing the reinforcement history of the correct behaviors, and diminishing the reinforcement of unwanted behaviors, while improving the owner’s relationship with the dog through education and training.

Registration by appointment only.

Testimonials

“I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed our in-home consultation with you.  You were great (positive, clear, encouraging), I learned a ton, and well It really helped me to feel confident that I’m not a failure at being a dog trainer.   Now we’re having a great time and seeing the results that I was hoping for (no more barking/lunging).  We have been using our gentle leaders with PRIDE and practicing a lot.  Anyway, I just wanted to send you a note of THANK YOU! You have really helped me and my woofie family.  I can’t wait to do more with Teamworks”.

Thank you AGAIN!

“I just wanted to thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for all you have done to help our family deal with our many dog issues.  Your diagnoses and advice were always exactly on target, and I can’t tell you how appreciative I am…I really loved the fact that you were so down-to-earth and warm and loving with our dogs.  Most important, you were incredible with the kids and working with the family as a whole to solve the problem.  I will recommend you as the best to anyone who has dog issues, and I am sure we will be consulting you in the future, as sharing a household with three rescue dogs and two young children is not always the easiest endeavor.”

Sincerely,
J. Kochman and family

“After two particularly vicious fights between our two dogs (and the subsequent visits to the emergency vet), I was at my wit’s end. My wife and I didn’t know what to do and were worried we’d have to find a new home for one of the dogs. We read books and researched online but nothing we tried seemed to have any lasting effect. We contacted Michele in the hope that we could remedy their behavior problems. Through the entire process she was incredibly professional and calm. She came to our home and met with the girls on their own turf. She gathered as much information as she could about their habits, daily life, etc. and walked us through a number of pointers on things we could change that might improve our situation. Fast forward one year later and after rigidly enforcing all of Michele’s suggestions, our two girls haven’t been in a single fight! It’s been over a year now and I can’t thank Michele enough for the peace of mind she’s brought us! We have two beautiful rescue dogs and a wonderful home now – I’d recommend Michele’s services to anyone!”

“If I could give a review more than five stars, I would do it in a heartbeat for Teamworks Dog Training. I can’t rave to enough people about our experience!

Long story short, we have two female dogs that want to be alpha, and we’ve had some behavior problems that we’re rather worried about. Michele, the in-home trainer, came highly recommended from a friend for “serious behavior problems,” so we signed up for an in-home consultation. Michele is a registered trainer and a certified dog obedience instructor and dog behavior counselor (she has a plethora of accreditations to her name), so I felt like we were in pretty good hands.

We had to fill out a massive questionnaire before the consultation that Michele could look over. And before I go further, it’s not cheap. But now that we’ve gone through it, I would have paid that easily, and more, to experience Michele’s wealth of knowledge and the confidence that she gave us.

Michele listened attentively as we explained the variety of problems we’ve been having and the things we’ve been trying, letting her know various examples of what’s worked and what hasn’t. She made us feel really good about the way we treat our dogs and gave us confidence for things we’re already doing to help them. And the best part – she’s super honest, so when she told us she thought we could rectify the problems, I knew she wasn’t just giving us an earful. She truly cares about dogs and their owners and making their lives as peaceful as possible.

In addition to in-home consults for serious problems, Michele and her co-trainers offer a huge variety of classes, ranging from dominance and aggression classes to leash manners to agility classes for well-trained dogs.

If you have a dog with behavior problems – or just want to get some further training for your already well-behaved pooch – give Teamworks a look now!”

I just had our first consult with Michele and cannot express how happy I am with the information given, the knowledge and the patience in answering all questions about my dog, his breed and his behavior. This is the best money I have spent, well worth the consult and start of new things for my doggo!
